When Bailey wrote to me about planning a proposal photoshoot in Italy, I immediately felt honored. It was not only my first surprise proposal session — it was also for a lesbian couple traveling from the USA, celebrating their love in Italy. As a photographer, creating a safe and welcoming space for every couple is deeply important to me, and I was excited to help Bailey turn this moment into a lasting memory.

A surprise proposal in Portofino

Together we planned the perfect location in Portofino. After considering several places, we chose a small hidden beach — Baia Cannone — quiet, intimate, and perfect for a private moment. Early morning light, calm sea, and the feeling that the world had not fully woken up yet. The moment was so emotional that even my hands were shaking a little behind the camera. Some photos may not be perfectly sharp — but the emotion was real.

After the proposal, they opened a bottle of champagne right there on the beach. Laughter, relief, excitement — that beautiful mix of emotions that comes when a life-changing question finally has its answer. We continued the proposal photoshoot in Italy with a walk through the colorful streets of Portofino. No pressure, no posing — just capturing the first moments of their engagement as they explored the town together. These are the moments I love photographing most: real emotions, genuine connection, and couples who travel across the world to celebrate their love.
